The Whole Truth

Open Relating, Slut Shaming, Brand Management & Reputation Cost

Last night, a dear friend came to me for guidance about whether she should come out publicly with her sexuality and the fact that she is a polyamorous woman, an open relater, a woman who dates more than one man.

She told me I am the only person she knows who is fully “out of the closet” with the open nature of my sexuality who is not a sex educator by profession.

Given the number of people this friend knows who are open relators, I found that at first surprising, then a bit shocking and finally just plain sad.

My “Word” for 2013 — Discipline

Ya know how some people come up with a theme word for the year and then let that word guide them for the entire year? Well, I’ve always been somewhat resistant to the idea.

But, a lot of things I’ve been resistant to in the past seem to be coming into focus this year, so I’m not surprised that this one has too.

Before I tell you the word, I want to share some of the shifts that are happening because they are big and somewhat surprising.

First, some backstory.

Does spending less mean more freedom?

As you know, I recently went down the path of facing one of my greatest fears, released my credit score, filed bankruptcy and I’m now working on a book “You Are Not Your Credit Score: Myths, Lies & Legends About Money, Debt and the Credit System Keeping You From Living Your Dream Life Right Now.”

Along the way, I am discovering so many ways we are conditioned to believe things that simply are not true.

I’ll continue to share some of those things with you here.

Post bankruptcy, we are required to take a course.  In the course, there is a test question as follows:

I’m back, bitches.

I stopped writing here for a while. Hid this personal blog away behind my media site so no one could find it.  Went into hiding. Blamed it on my bankruptcy.  Told myself I couldn’t write about what was really happening as it was happening because … well, there were a million reasons.  All lies.  To keep me safe.

But, I’m not here to live a life of safe.

I’m here to share it all, as it’s happening. I have a lot of things I can do well in the world, but I’m beginning to get the sense that my one true gift that I can do better than just about anyone is my willingness to be truly, totally, sometimes brutally, transparent.

Grace in Action

I wrote a guest post recently on Leesa Barnes’ Naked Faith blog series.  It’s called Grace in Actionand it’s not only received rave reviews, it’s helped those who have read it get through some big challenges.

Here’s some of what readers said:

“A fabulous post. Profound. And upon reading it I felt a renewed sense of calmness regarding my current challenges – which when put into perspective are small.” — Morton Patterson

“Thank you Alexis. I am not sure if I should weep or jump for joy. Identifying our underlying feelings and matching them with the Truth about us and about life has set a tone for great freedom in the now.” — Angela Price

When Dreams Slip Away, How to Get Back in the Saddle Again

I’m writing with the hope that by the time I am done, I will have sorted some things out. Part of me wants to hide all of this angst, and yet I know that my gift is sharing it with you as I experience it, so here it is.

I have been hiding.  There’s simply too much to say and I don’t have time write my book yet.  I have systems to rebuild, teams to hire, financial stuff to work out, websites to recreate …

And I let all of that stop me from living my true purpose, my gift, my reason for being here.

Transformational Entertainment

I had the great pleasure of attending the GATE (Global Alliance of Transformational Entertainment) Conference this past weekend thanks to a gift from my good friend, conscious comedian Kyle Cease.

A little more than two years ago, right when I was about to pop in the mass media (I was getting called to commentate on television at least weekly), I moved to Colorado and 100% stopped appearing on television because I had an awakening — I was not contributing to the world in the way I wanted to with the TV I was doing.

A Message of Hope for 2012 and Beyond

So much has happened in this past month as we’ve transitioned from 2011 into 2012 that I want to catch you up on, and I will in a future post.

For now though, I want to share with you an overriding message that keeps coming to me as we venture into this year that so many have been prophesying about.

The theories about 2012 range from the world coming to an end, to a new world power going into place that will overtake us all, global weather catastrophes, the second coming of Christ and much more.

What It Means to Wake Up & Why You (We) Must Do It Now

For years I have known it was my purpose here on this planet to first wake up myself and then wake up others.  The only problem was, I really had no idea what that actually meant.

It’s been a journey of discovery.  I let the not knowing paralyze me for a while and then began to realize that part of waking up meant moving forward even when I didn’t know all the details about how and could only see two feet in front of my face.  Two feet was all I needed and I was on a need to know basis.

How to Handle the Terror Within

Admit it, you are scared to death. Terrified you are making the wrong choices.  Petrified that you have screwed it all up (or that you will) and this carefully constructed life you have created for yourself will all come crashing down around you.  Sometimes it feels so overwhelming you wonder whether you can keep going another day.  You are hanging on by your finger nails.

Okay, maybe that’s not your experience.  But, it is mine.

This is a truth I don’t often allow to be seen or even willingly look at myself.  And I suspect that it’s something most of us share in common, even if we aren’t able to acknowledge it out loud.
